How to Upload Twitch Emotes
Twitch wants square PNG (static) or GIF (animated) files. If you already have art, run it through the resizer. If you need a character, grab a free original pack.

1. Open Emotes in the dashboard
Creator Dashboard → Viewer Rewards → Emotes. You will see follower emotes, subscriber emotes, and animated emotes as separate slots.

2. Pick the slot type
Affiliates get follower emotes (up to five) plus a small number of sub and animated slots that grow with the channel. Partners have a larger cap. Upload static PNG into static slots and GIF into animated slots — do not mix them.

3. Use the three sizes
For each emote, upload 28×28, 56×56, and 112×112. Keep transparency. Do not convert to JPG. Do not scale the files again in an editor after download.

4. Name it and wait for review
Give the emote a short code. Twitch may review it. Do not upload other people’s characters, game assets, or streamer faces — those get rejected.
Not Affiliate yet?
You cannot attach channel emotes in Twitch until Affiliate. You can still put the same files on BetterTTV so viewers with the extension see them. Read the BTTV bridge guide.
